Harvard's Dataverse

UR Libraries and the UR School of Law have created Dataverse collections within Harvard’s Dataverse Repository (the “HDR”). The HDR is a free, customizable platform for organizing, managing, and sharing datasets that satisfies functionality needs not met by the UR Scholarship Repository. For example, users can publish files up to 2.5GB in any format, and are able to store up to 1TB of data on the HDR.

Users of the HDR must create an account before creating a Dataverse collection (a “Dataverse”) of their own and uploading Datasets; a Dataverse serves as a “container” for your Datasets (files). By creating your own Dataverse you can share, organize, and archive your data, and display it on other sites. Your Dataverse/Datasets can be open to the public or have restricted access within customizable terms of use; your metadata is open and findable via search engines even if the data are restricted. Published data automatically gets a standard data citation with a Digital Object Identifier (DOI) and a formal scholarly data citation. The HDR also increases the web visibility of your research by making it searchable alongside other scholars’ research data.
