To download an ebook, you will need:

1. Adobe Digital Editions: Follow the instructions below for installation on your computer.
2. Personal EBSCO account (separate from your UR account).  Follow these instructions to create your EBSCO account.

To checkout an ebook with the option to download it later:

1. Sign in to EBSCO with your personal EBSCO account (not your UR account).
2. Click the Download link for the ebook you would like to download.
3. Select Full eBook, the amount of time in the Borrow For dropdown menu, PDF or EPUB, and check the box "I have Adobe Digital Editions or equivalent installed."
4. Click Download.
5. Select Close once it downloads.  It will automatically return when your checkout period is over.

After you checkout and download your ebook:

• You may read your e-book in Adobe Digital Editions on your computer.
• You may choose to transfer your ebook to your Adobe Digital Editions-compatible ebook reader or app. Adobe provides instructions on how to transfer the e-book from computer to device.
• You may re-download your ebook from your My EBSCOhost account at any time during the checkout period.

A couple of our e-book packages require Adobe Digital Editions (ADE), a free extension to Adobe Acrobat Reader, to download them. To install and use ADE, follow these steps:

1. Download Acrobat Reader, if not already installed.
2. Download Adobe Digital Editions from Adobe's website.
3. Create an Adobe ID and authorize your copy of ADE.

ADE is pre-installed on Library computers.

An Adobe ID is not necessary to read e-books on the library computers, but it is required to download ebooks to a personal device.  If you are using ADE on your personal computer (not a Library or public computer), Adobe recommends authorizing ADE with an Adobe ID. Your Adobe ID is free and completely separate from your NetID or other UR accounts.
