Liaisons collaborate with faculty and schedule in-class instruction sessions to cover a wide range of information literacy-related topics. These sessions can be quick introductions, in which liaisons introduce themselves to the students and briefly cover the services we offer, or longer full-class sessions where liaisons go in-depth into select research skills/topics.
For faculty teaching FYS, you will have a required in-class library session. Liaison librarians are assigned to each FYS course based on discipline areas, and they will work with you to schedule the session. For additional questions about the FYS library session, please contact Kyle Jenkins (kyle.jenkins@richmond.edu).
Assist with research
Liaisons act as the main point of contact for students and faculty in need of one-on-one research assistance in their subject areas. Meetings can be scheduled in person or virtually.

Create course-specific web pages (LibGuides)
Each subject area at UR has a corresponding library resource guide with relevant databases, websites, and other resources. Additionally, liaisons can collaborate with faculty to create tailored guides for special topics, individual classes, and even specific assignments.
Click here to view the full list of UR resource guides, and contact your liaison if you'd like to have a guide created for your course(s).
Facilitate resource acquisition
Faculty looking to acquire library copies of books, articles, and other resources can contact liaisons for assistance. Liaisons can check on the availability and accessibility of items and process requests with our Acquisitions department. This includes items needed for classroom instruction and research purposes.
Requests for films, streaming content, and other visual media sources can be sent directly to Nick Dease (nick.dease@richmond.edu), our Film and Humanities Librarian.
Maintain library collections
Liaisons work to keep up to date with developments in their disciplinary areas, focusing on trends relevant to library resources. We regularly assess our collections, and acquire or update resources that best serve the research needs of students and faculty at UR.
