Tips to Take Away from this Class

  1. Subject encyclopedias, such as those in the Oxford Reference Online database or the Cambridge Companion Series are good places to begin to gather background information on a topic.
  2. Use the “Books and More” tab in OneSearch to find books we own in print or online.
  3. Find scholarly journal articles with Articles search on the main page or by searching the subject databases listed under the “Finding Books and Journal Articles” tab on your research guide.
  4. When using OneSearch, look at the left side of the page to see all the ways you can refine your search results.
  5. Academic/scholarly books and articles generally have references or bibliographies that provide “ready-made research” of recommended resources.
  6. If you need a book or article we don’t own, use the Interlibrary loan service.
  7. If you are interested in learning how to create advanced visual effects for a presentation or other technology skills, LinkedIn Learning has several types of software courses to let you learn at your own pace.
