What is an Informative Speech?

An informative speech seeks to introduce an audience with a topic of interest to the speaker.  The goal is to engage the audience by demonstrating both the importance of topic and the speaker's qualified knowledge

This speech format requires the speaker to prove his or her credibility and is done through the use of examples and evidence throughout the speech.
