Merit pay increases allow supervisors to reward students who perform at a level beyond expectation for a continued period of time. Students who work in the same job title for two consecutive semesters (not counting summers or semesters abroad) become eligible for a merit-based increase in pay at the start of the following semester. In order to provide a merit increase, supervisors must complete a student evaluation form. The rating on the evaluation determines the amount of the merit increase.
You are responsible for working all of your scheduled shifts, and except in the case of sudden illness or emergency, the burden of finding a sub when you can't work falls on you. Failure to show up on time for a scheduled daytime shift (Mon-Fri 9-5), without prior notification or extenuating circumstances, will result in a verbal warning (1st offense), a written warning (2nd offense), or termination (3rd offense). Missing a shift after 5:00 pm or on a weekend, without prior notification or extenuating circumstances, may result in immediate termination. Students whose employment at the Music Library has been terminated for cause are not eligible for employment at Boatwright Library.
If you experience a sudden illness or emergency and can't report to work, please notify BOTH Linda AND Melanie as soon as possible.

The Music Library has a large collection of recordings of Music Department concerts dating from the 1950s to the present, on CD, cassette tape, DAT tape, LP record, and mp3. These recordings were made by the Music Department's technology staff and are generally given to us between a few days and a few weeks after a performance. Many of the older recordings are in the library catalog, but the newer ones (mostly digital files) are not.
If someone wants to listen to a recording of a historical Music Department performance, first check in the catalog, but if you don't find it, send the person to Linda. In many cases these recordings are unique copies, and therefore they must be listened to on site (no checkouts).
The Music Library is working on converting selected Music Department concert recordings to streaming audio files, and some student employees will be assigned to work on this project. For now, the streaming files are not available to the public.
An archive of printed programs for about 1,500 Music Department concerts is available here
We sometimes get calls from parents looking for a music teacher for their children. Please refer all such calls to the Music Department (289-8277).
If a student asks about renting an instrument for lessons or ensembles, direct them to the Music Department office on the first floor of Booker Hall.
