Revolutionary Crossroads Resource Guide

Welcome!

Here you'll find a repository of readings, videos, and other resources for the Revolutionary Crossroads experience.

Fort Ticonderoga, Saratoga, the Mohawk Valley, Lake Champlain, Fort Orange (Albany), the Hudson River, and the Erie Canal…Each possesses a unique site, situation, and place in shaping 250 years of US independence. VGA’s Revolutionary Crossroads field experience will visit, experience, commemorate, and reflect on the impact these “off the beaten path” (relative to Virginia) sites have had on our nation’s colonial, revolutionary, and 19th-century histories. Activities and excursions will focus on different aspects of geography, including historical, cultural, urban, economic, political, and physical. By weaving these local sites, situations, and stories with our national narrative participants will leave with a more robust perspective and toolkit for teaching about the significance of America’s semiquincentennial.
