Chicago-Style [Notes & Bibliography] Citation Quick Guide for Government Documents (Bowdoin College)
This Quick Guide provides examples of citations for government documents based on the Notes and Bibliography system of the 15th edition of The Chicago Manual of Style. Although the most recent edition of The Chicago Manual of Style is the 16th edition, we recommend the use of CMS15 for government documents because the 16th edition does not include guidance for the creation of bibliographic entries for those resources.
The Bluebook is a standard source for citation of legal materials. The Chicago Manual of Style and several other style manuals refer to it for certain kinds of government publications.
You can find copies of The Bluebook at the Boatwright Information and Assistance Desk and in the reference section on the 1st floor.
