Adopted by the ACRL in 2015, the IL Framework replaces the IL Standards (2000) and provides a 21st century approach for contextualizing and integrating IL within the curriculum.
There are six concepts in the IL Framework that anchor our approach to research and instruction:
- Authority Is Constructed and Contextual
- Information Creation is a Process
- Information has Value
- Research is Inquiry
- Scholarship is Conversation
- Searching is Strategic Exploration
Developed by a taskforce of the Association of College & Research Libraries in 2000, the standards represent early approaches to integration of IL within higher education.
