Finding Books in Boatwright Library

To search for books in Boatwright, use the Library Catalog.

Start with a keyword search and, when you have found one or two relevant books, examine their subjects headings to help guide further searching, or use terms from the table of contents.

You can also use descriptive terms such as "coming of age" or "culture name" AND "adolescen?"

You should use the name of the culture you are researching and some keyword to narrow to "coming of age," "youth or adolescence," "social customs" or "growing up" when searching for books or articles.

Many books will have information on a culture's coming of age traditions or mores that are not evident from the record in the catalog.  To find these books, you can browsing the tables of contents and indexes of books in the call number area for your culture.

You can also find relevant books by using Worldcat, a large national catalog of books; by searching Google Books or Google Scholar; and by searching our Ebsco E-book Database.
