Locating Book Chapters in the Library Catalog

Book chapter titles are often included in library catalog records for edited volumes (i.e., each chapter is written by a different author). A general keyword search will work best for locating individual book chapters in the library catalog.

Book chapter titles are often included in library catalog records for edited volumes (i.e., each chapter is written by a different author). A general keyword search will work best for locating individual book chapters in the library catalog.

Another way to locate book chapters is to find a book on your topic, then select a particular chapter you would like to read from it. Again, edited volumes of essays by various authors will probably work better than a sustained argument by a single author. Sometimes, simply browsing in the stacks works best!

Locating Book Chapters in Online Research Databases

Many of the library's online databases include books and book chapters, in addition to journal articles. When searching the databases, check the limiter options to see if you can limit your search by document type.
